ConVoid Families

Session 4 of 5

Level of the Openings

Introduction

Introduction

ConVoid families are based on two levels: the Base Level and the Top Level. It is essential to set the ConVoid level settings according to your project requirements. To ensure that your project needs are met, we recommend following these best practices.

Where do I find this option in ConVoid?

Host Level

Host Level

By selecting the Host Level, the opening will inherit the same levels as the host. For instance, if a wall has constraints at Levels 1 and 2, the opening will also adopt those levels. We strongly recommend selecting the Level option for horizontal openings such as wall openings and openings in beams. This typically provides the distance between the opening and the upper and lower surfaces of the slab, which is crucial information for coordination and construction purposes.

Building Story

Building Story

By selecting the Building Story, the opening will inherit the levels above and below it that are marked as 'Building Story.' We strongly recommend selecting this option for vertical openings such as floor openings, roof openings, and ceiling openings. This provides visibility results for the opening in both ceiling and floor plans, which is essential for coordination and construction purposes.

Reference Level

Reference Level

By selecting the Reference Level, the opening will take over the same level of the reference element. For example, if a Duct has a constraint at Level 2, the opening will also adopt this level.

Change Level

Change Level

If you need to change the levels of an opening after it has been placed, please refer to the Level/Elevation session.
